Winterholiday 2012
Back home after an amazing 4 weeks enjoying the snow with our dogs and great friends!
Auronzo di Cadore
First we went to Auronzo Di Cadore (Italy) at ASD Amarok. There wasn’t as much snow as we’re used to in Auronzo, but enough for a good 18km training over a beautiful trail. The dogs had a great time and were very happy! Kaya, Yucka, Cane & Diesel enjoyed the mushing, Bailey, Qanuk & Copper enjoyed their walks and we even took Copper for a little baby-trail together with Yucka, so he could get a taste of his future and he absolutely loved it!!
Thanks to the Italian mushers; we got spoiled every afternoon with a nice BBQ and some good drinks!! Also Paty spoiled us with a very nice dinner at her home twice!!
A big thank you to Paty and all Italian mushers for their great hospitality and for making this week unforgettable for us!!
EC Tarvisio
After Auronzo, we went to the European Championship Sprint of the FISTC at Fusine Tarvisio, Italy. We entered the C2, with 9 other selected competitors and we were very proud to finish 6th. The dogs did an amazing job and were in great condition, you could see their happy faces at the start and at the finish they almost asked for another round, they just loved it!!
Friday: 35min 30sec over 9km
Saturday: 35min 53sec over 9km
Sunday: 36min 42sec over 9km
Thanks to Franky for handling our dogs at the start!
Haidmühle
After 5 days in Tarvisio we went to Haidmühle, Germany. Luud and Tiny arrived 2 days before us, so made sure we had a nice spot at the stake-out. Also some people who were in Tarvisio came to Haidmühle, so it was very nice to be able to spend more time with them and have some nice chats and drinks together! Alex and the dogs went for training the day after our arrival and we never saw the trail in Haidmühle this perfect before, there was a lot of snow and the weather reports where telling us there was more to come… On Wednesday morning we woke up and noticed about 50cm snow had fallen that night and until 11h00 it continued snowing. Later in the evening we had a small snowstorm (as you can see in the movie of Haidmühle) and the days after it kept snowing on and off, which made the trail more and more perfect! On Friday Jan & Anja arrived and one day later also Tim, Astrid, Shannon & Randy arrived. We enjoyed one more week of snow & fun with them!!
We’d like to thank Luud & Tiny, Jan & Anja, Tim & Astrid, the kids and of course all the great dogs for a wonderful time in Haidmühle!! Also thanks to Ron, Debbie & Senna and all the other mushers for the nice chats and laughters!! Of course a big thanks to Udo for making sure the trail was in perfect condition!
We had a wonderful time together with some great friends enjoying the dogs, the snow, the mushing, relaxing etc. But of course all good things come to an end, but some good memories will be treasured; it was amazing and time simply went by too fast!!
Training with Jori & Luka
On Saturday December 17th we enjoyed a nice day together with Marjolein's sister Nicolien, her husband Mark, their kids Jori & Luka and Senna; their Labrador.
Alex went for training the dogs and took Jori with him on the cart. It was a very nice training and it was obvious that Jori really enjoyed it; having a big smile on his face!
In the meanwhile Marjolein went for a walk with Mark, Nicolien & Luka and of course we took Bailey, Qanuk, Copper & Senna with us. Copper and Senna had a great time running and playing together while Bailey and Qanuk took it easy sniffing around...
After this training the dogs had some drinks and Alex went for a little round with Luka, who really wanted to go too, but in the end he wasn't too sure if he really liked it, he will probably like it more when he's a bit older ;o)
Thanks to Mark, Nic, Jori, Luka & Senna for a very nice day!!
COPPER av Rennfokk!!!
Finally Alex' dream has come true: we added a Greenland Dog to our pack!
After being in contact with a lot of great Greenland Dog breeders and owners, we found the right boy for us at Rennfokk kennel, Norway.
Copper has been with us for a few days now and he's doing very well! He's getting to know our malamutes and the first times they have been together went very well, Copper is very submissive, which of course is very good! As you can see on this video he's already playing a bit with the malamutes, they really love him!!
For us he's a very sweet and easy going boy, very playful, loves food and little bones. He also loves playing alone with his toys, especially his 'Kong Wubba' squeaky toy!
He takes everything he 'owns' into his bench and just plays by himself. He knows what he can and can not do rather quickly but he also likes to try how far he can go... ;o)
Thanks to Anne & Gisle from Rennfokk Kennel for trusting us with this very special boy!!
And a very big thank you to Johan & Ellis for their great help and hospitality!!
Berlare Race 2011
For the second time we entered the Berlare race, organized by the Snow Racing Team. Just like last year it was a very well organized race, with a great atmosphere!
Our team did very well, we finished 3rd in C2.
1st day: 5,1km; 00:18:40
2nd day: 5,1km: 00:19:08
With an average of 16,2 kmph.
We had a very nice and relaxing weekend with some great friends! It was also very nice to see Boy & Gisela again, thanks for the visit, you should enter the race next time ;o))
Thanks to Snow Racing Team for a great organisation and for another great weekend!
Lovely week @ the Ardennes!
We enjoyed a wonderful week at Harry & Nadine's in the Ardennes! At the moment they are building a very nice new home in between meadows and forests, so we had a great relaxing time in beautiful surroundings!!
The dogs did great training uphill and they had a blast running and playing in the big dog-playgrounds and of course also enjoyed some relaxing time at the stake-out!
It was also really great to see our beloved Anokee again (Iluniaq Hanokee; out of our litter 2008; Kaya X Michigan).
She truly is Kaya's little girl, looking a lot like her mommy!
She's doing wonderful, very healthy and happy with a great temperament!
She also does a great job working in Harry's C2 team!
We would like to thank our friends Harry & Nadine for their great hospitality, we really had a great time!! Thank you!!
Kivo Kempentrail 2011
Again we enjoyed the Kempentrail at Knegsel (NL).
Our team did great even though the weather was a bit too hot.
This time we finished 3rd in C2!!
1st day: 3,8km; 00:14:06
2nd day: 3,8km: 00:13:48
With an average of 16,5 kmph.
Again we had a great time with some very good friends, and it's always nice to see again some people from Valkenswaard, the town where we grew up!! We also enjoyed the visit of Marjolein's parents and Nicolien, Mark, Jori & Luka and we would like to thank them for their great support!
Thanks to SSC-NL for a great organisation and for another great weekend!
Thanks to Tiny & Anja for the pictures, thanks to Rachelle for the video's!
Westerlo Race 2011
As always we had a great time at the first race of the season: Westerlo race!!
Our team was entered in the C2 class, and finished 2nd out of 5!
1st day: 4km; 00:18:41
2nd day: 4km: 00:16:06
With an average of 13,8 kmph.
We can be very proud of our team, especially since it was the first time for Yucka & Diesel together as leaddogs, they really did a great job!! Kaya & Cane enjoyed being wheeldogs, a real change of scenery for Kaya, since she used to be our leaddog, but she loves it!!
We'd like to thank VFS for a great organisation and a wonderful weekend!!
Thanks to Rachelle & Tiny for the pictures!
